Amtrak 231 pulls #3 upgrade at the famous Wootton Ranch.

storyImage recorded on Santa Fe's Raton Pass route. This location is about 1.5 miles from the summit and the Colorado/New Mexico state line. At the time of this photo, the train was named the Southwest Limited, but was later renamed the Southwest Chief. There used to be a fair amount of ATSF and BNSF freight traffic over this line, but in recent years only Amtrak uses it, the freight having been rerouted to the Transcon farther south.
Great shot at one of my favorite lines to visit in Colorado/New Mexico. Unfortunately Amtrak #3 and #4 are the only trains left running here currently.
Thanks, Robert! One does wonder how long that arrangement can go on...
nice shot!!
