I have a question that might be a little stupid-Is the average speed of heavy-haul trains in the United States really very low? And sometimes the average speed is even below 40 km / h?
avatar
Maersk.146

@DF4B3110
The US has many routes for freight trains which allow for speeds up to 70 mph (112 kph). Some equipment is restricted to slower speeds, such as certain empty freight cars/wagons, but a lot of equipment is authorized for track speed.

hello, I have a question about adding a new class: in Ireland there is a company that belongs to two countries at once: the republics of Ireland and Great Britain, rolling stock is also assigned to different depots: 5 locomotives are assigned to Ireland, and 2 to Northern Ireland, they differ only the format of the number and the language in which the inscriptions are written, also all tail cars belong to northern Ireland. Q: How do I add Locomotives? create 2 companies under the British and Irish flag? Thank you

@LevPavliuk96 Hi there! Can you please share details about the class? Need some investigation to make a decision.

@ter Here is information about two companies operating on the island, Northern Ireland and Ireland

Thanks for the information, I would like to see exact class issue - I guess it's about 201 class, and yes we should use separate classes in this case IE 201 and NIR 201 (with 208/209 or 8208/8209).

It's probably regarding the Enterprise service?

Since it sure looks that way: Enterprise isn't the operator that runs those trains, it's just a brand name. IE and NIR (translink) are both responsible for rolling stock and personnel. They each own their own rolling stock, although IE is responsible for maintaining all loco's (including the NIR ones) and likewise the NIR takes care of all coaches. And although certain loco's have a certain livery, they can easily put 201's without the enterprise livery on the service. That's why once a while you can see and green/silver one of the enterprise service. It isn't preferable, but it happens once a while. You can compare it with Flixbus, where the normal passenger only sees the Flixbus brand, while there are other individual operators are responsible for busses and personel etc. Or with the ICE International between Amsterdam/Brussels and Germany: the dutch NS owns an ICE 3M set while the germans own a couple more. The passenger won't see the difference.

@ter thanks, in that case i added a photo of nir 201 but for some reason nir is under irish flag when it should be under uk flag
avatar
stefan

@LevPavliuk96 @ter the NIR's website is also wrong, it ought to be: www.translink.co.uk
avatar
Lev Pavliuk 96

@stefan yes, it looks like it's part of Irish Rail, there's definitely something wrong

Hi, I would like to add the rolling stock of the Bord Na Mona narrow gauge railway to the database, it has a lot of locomotive models, I counted about 20 in a couple of visits there, but it's all divided by manufacturer, you can almost always accurately determine the manufacturer, but not the model , since the model is not written on the nameplates, only number, it’s just like lm***.

So the question is: what is the best way to sign rolling stock? Sign something like "Bord na Mona LM/RM" or make it more precise like "Bord na Mona Wagonmaster"? I definitely won’t be able to add all the models, since even the workers themselves cannot always help me with identification, since almost the entire working fleet has been modernized several times. I would really like to figure this out and that my photos would not be in Identify for several years, I already have enough images and there will be even more, this is a really interesting system, the largest peat narrow-gauge railway in the world, I would like to share this on trainspo. I guarantee the quality of the photo😉. Thanks for understanding

Hello, the only way is to send an invitation upon registration, sometimes it can take longer.

Hi! The best way is to start with small portions 🙂 Like one new vehicle for the whole system so we will be able to describe it in the most correct way. Please also attach any detailed info about those vehicles, it can be any blogs posts or fan articles in case of missing wikipedia pages.

@ter https://locomotive.fandom.com/wiki/Bord_na_M%C3%B3na_%22Wagonmaster%22

https://locomotive.fandom.com/wiki/Bord_na_M%C3%B3na_Ruston

https://www.bordnamonalivinghistory.ie/equipment-detail/locomot..80hp/

As you can see, there is a very clear division by manufacturers (classes), so it would probably be more logical to add several classes. I have also seen more detailed technical articles, but they talk more about peat extraction, there is not much information about locomotives on the Internet, because local railway fans show almost no interest in this. I think that few people even know approximately which networks are still working, I myself have to go to the systems and check whether there is traffic there or not, not to mention technical information about the locomotive

Dunno where else to put it, sooo..

ASR (Abellio Scotrail) was taken over by the Scottish government. Scotland had a wee problem with Abellio. So Abellio is totally out of the picture and it's just "Scotrail" 😉
avatar
Mikhail Ter

@stefan Thanks for info. Do you know the exact date of the takeover?
avatar
stefan

@ter
31 march 2022

Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ScotRail):
In December 2019, Transport Scotland announced Abellio had not met the performance criteria necessary to have its seven-year franchise extended for a further three years, and the franchise would conclude on 31 March 2022.
