@Maersk.146 That seems to be a dangerous snake but looks beautiful... What are those birds called ?
avatar
Maersk.146

@jmadhavadas Snow Geese. They have quite a bit of variety in coloring, from full white to mostly black and in between.

It's always nice to pop past now and then and see what is on here. I get a fantastic insight into what other countries are really like outside of the pictures in my stereotyped head. Thanks.

A family of blue tits have taken over a crossing warning light set. It amused me to see how well suited the post and the birds are to each other.

@Astro Great photos! Yes, those birds will find some interesting roosts.

Recent flooding on the Missouri River has spread out into adjoining fields, making
the BNSF Brookfield Sub appear as though it is a causeway through a lake, instead of
corn and soybean fields.

One of thousands of toads and frogs hatched this year with all the flooding in Missouri.
It's a good year for anyone who has toads and frogs on their menu, too.
This is a Woodhouse's Toad (Bufo woodhousii), found mainly in the Missouri River
floodplain and streams in the western part of the state.
Right after this photo, the shutter in my D750 jammed, requiring service by Nikon. D'oh!

...I've looked at frogs from both sides now, from left and right, but still somehow...

It turns out that this a Bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) , Missouri's State Amphibian. It can
grow to six inches in length and is considered a culinary delicacy among game frogs. Thanks
to JM for the suggestion to identify it!
avatar
Jayasankar Madhavadas

@Maersk.146 Nice shot ...You should identify it because some species are endangered. May be you will be lucky with an endangered one or near extinct one ...

These are Great Egrets (Ardea alba), found statewide in Missouri, especially in
wetlands and river floodplains. Seen here in a flooded soybean field near Hardin, MO.
These are just three among hundreds of egrets and blue herons in the region because of
the long-term flooding this year. a wildlife photographers' paradise!

Mountaintops are often a place of a nice view, but this mountaintop in far eastern Russia was definitely one of the best views I have ever seen.
To the east, you could see the sea of Japan, and to the west, a vast nature of Siberia and Machuria.
It's not in the picture, but in the back of me taking this photo, there is a eight pointed cross of Russian Orthodox Church.

From here, you can take photo of a train heading in both direction.
Train heading towards east can be seen like this one( https://trainspo.com/photo/105477/ ) and for west bound, like this (https://trainspo.com/photo/105476/ ).
