The funny thing is that in the middle of summer it will be bigger and something like a sword will grow on its belly behind (if it is a male). And the grasshopper itself will be much larger. For him worth avoiding the attack of the enemy forces of the Dragonfly Air Force and the insidious spider's traps from the Orb-Web Squad. 😂

Yauza River and Mytishchi Reservoir. Moscow region, Mytishchi city, Mosvodokanal, Losiny Ostrov National Park.
There are always many seagulls here, feasting on fish from the reservoir.

Retro bus LiAZ-677M also known in its time as "Moon rover". Those who have ridden these buses probably already hear the "bottle sound" and are ready to jump on every bump in the back of the bus. 😉 A fairly rare type of buses that can be found on the streets (and not in a museum or a retro trip). Location: Metro station Technopark, Moscow. July 6, 2021

Oh, what a funny eared man! He seems a little scared 😄
avatar

@white.dead
He didn't tremble or squirm when I picked him up to place under a shady shrubbery nearby, so maybe he has nerves of steel! 😀

Travel to Nizhny Novgorod on August 10th and 11th.
1 and 2 - a view of the place from the side of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, called Strelka (English meaning Arrow), the main natural attraction of Nizhny Novgorod, meaning the confluence of the Volga and Oka rivers and separating them. Evening view at the sunset and night view.
3 - a monument to Valery Pavlovich Chkalov, a Soviet test pilot awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, born in the Nizhny Novgorod province in 1904. In 1937, for the first time in the world as an aircraft commander, he made a non-stop flight over the North Pole from Shchelkovo, Moscow Region, USSR to Vancouver, Washington State, USA. The monument depicts its flight in 1937 with stars. On December 15, 1938, Valery Chkalov died at the age of 34 while testing a new fighter.
4 - excursion motor ship F.I. Parfenov, passing along the Volga river.
5 - retro car GAZ-21 "Volga" against the background of the walls of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. The first Soviet car of the Volga series, produced by the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) from 1956 to 1970. The fact is that the GAZ plant is located in Nizhny Novgorod (in the Soviet Union the city was called Gorky) and for GAZ cars Nizhny Novgorod is the homeland, so a number of GAZ models received the Volga series (because of the Volga river flowing here) . The Volga series was one of the most significant cars produced in the USSR throughout history and was the dream of many people who wanted to buy a car. This Volga is an excursion taxi that takes tourists around the historical part of the city.
6 and 7 - one of the large cross spiders living on the embankment of the Volga River and a lamppost on this embankment, entwined with a web of these spiders. In fact, while I was walking along the promenade, I literally saw them at every turn and a lot of cobwebs. Perhaps there were also tegenaria and similar spiders, but the bottom line is that there were a lot of them and they were all huge in size. Their size and number can be explained simply - firstly, this summer turned out to be quite hot, which allowed their population to grow, and secondly, many insects fly from the Volga, which provide them with an excellent diet around the clock. They absolutely do not show aggression, but their area even reached the Nizhny Novgorod metro, houses that are nearby and elements of street devices.

@Maersk.146
How small! Is this someone's private jet?
avatar
Maersk.146

@white.dead
It is a private jet for maybe 10-12 passengers, presumably for charters. It does go all over the US, but as the owner doesn’t allow tracking on the Flight Aware website, one can only guess where it goes by looking at online pictures that turn up on airplane fan sites.

Those spots must be big to show up from 93,000,000 miles away, maybe the size of our entire planet?

Maybe, it's hard to tell.

Crop duster pilot zooms low to treat a field of soybeans, then does a flyby. Look Ma! No hands! Palemon, MO, 11 Sep 2021

@Maersk.146
A very beautiful flower. It does look like a sunflower, but it seems like a smaller version of it. I think the pilot noticed you and even waves his hand. Wasn't harvest time right and late with soybean processing? Or does it perform some other function?
avatar
Maersk.146

@white.dead
Thanks! I think the crop duster may be applying a fungicide on the still-maturing soy crop, but I hope to find out more when I drop off some of these pictures at the small airport this plane works out of near Henrietta. Hopefully he's not mad about my picture-taking... 🙂

@white.dead

She was standing by the side of the gravel road as I drove by, but flew off as I got out of my car to photograph her, She then flew across the road and landed fairly close by, so I was able to get a few pics from the window before she flew off again. Of course, had I been working for National Geographic, she probably would have landed on my car and posed for official portraits...🦉 😄
