These Clyde-EMD built units had been in storage for several years, batch was made good, undercoated, and re-gauged in Australia prior to shipment (purchase price US$1.65 million ex works). Shipped ex Brisbane CEC Mayflower 19/09/2001.

By 2007 entire class had dynamic brake module raised, and air filter housing modified, walkways appear to have been widened. 2002 & 2003 (4 Window) had noses lowered and larger windscreens fitted in Antofagasta prior to entering service. All units were fitted with auxiliary fuel tanks by FCAB, this tank is approx 5cm lower than the main tank, (Qld aux tank approx 5cm higher). The only locomotive delivered with an auxiliary fuel tank was 2011, this tank was replaced with a FCAB pattern circa 2006. Webtec Q-Tron microprocessor control.
Maestranza has removed Clyde builders plates from all units.
