avatar In fact, this was the first time since the NS heritage units were introduced 12 years ago that I’ve been able to see it leading a train - earlier appearances were always as a trailing unit or in the yard. This event was rare enough that about six or seven other enthusiasts were present to record it during its approach to Kansas City.

avatar UP 1995 was on West Elk Mine, Colorado, coal load heading north on UP's Greeley Subdivision. UP 5999 south had coal load North Antelope Mine, Wyoming, USA, to Colorado Springs Utilities Ray Nixon Power Plant, Colorado Springs, CO. Two coal loads meeting on the Greeley line!
avatar Union Pacific 1995 North came from the West Elk Mine, Colorado, USA, headed for Mason City, Iowa. Train crossed the South Platte River on UP's Greeley Subdivision. Rare to see a coal load going north on this line. Coal loads usually use the Kansas Pacific line east out of Denver, Colorado, USA.

avatar Montana Rail Link (MRL) helpers return after moving westbound BNSF trains over Mullan Pass during the dark hours of 17 June 2015. Maintenance crews moved in at Mullan Tunnel for 6 to 8-hours work window. Major maintenance projects in the area during weekdays.
avatar An all-EMD consist, and five units as well! Very much a rarity these days, with so many GE locos available to throw into the mix. Also, all five are arranged with cabs forward, or "Elephant-style", as it is called in the US and elsewhere. And a clean ACe on the point!
