Twin WDG4s push the Mangalore-Yesvantpur Express up the ghats

storyThis is the Subrahmanya Ghat section, which is a 55km mountain section in the South Western Railway Zone, in Karnataka state. One of the steepest and most dangerous ghats in the country, this section sees numerous landslides during the severe Monsoon season in addition to frequent encounters with wild animals. There are just two day trains passing through this amazingly beautiful section which lies in the heart of India's Western Ghats.

All trains going down the ghats get WDG4 multiple units in the front (known as Brakers) and trains going up the ghats get the same at the back (known as Bankers). The station at the top of the ghat section is Sakleshpur, while that at the bottom is Subrahmanya Road.
