@classick Apparently only some parts are closed, such as the hump. Much of the rest is still used for intermodal traffic, locals and other switching tasks. Currently many of the tracks in the east bowl yard (hump output) are being used to store locomotives and rolling stock. There might be as many as 200 locos stored there now.
@tanelifoto It turns out that parking and walking out on the bridge worked just fine. Only about 150 units are stored in the bowl yard, however. See https://trainspo.com/photo/122009/

I’m hoping to get a picture of them but it’s only possible from a highway overpass with no place to park.
Good idea. If I wasn’t so old and resistant to change and new technology, I might even do it!
