@Maersk.146 No.. The loco pilots in Kerala are not trained in handling these locomotives at present,and also no locomotive sheds in the south which handles these. And I think the chances of the WDG-4Gs making its way into the south (beyond Gujarat I can say) is rare, as they would be exclusive for the Dedicated Freight Corridor once it becomes fully functional. Currently these are more commonly found in Gujarat,Rajasthan,Haryana,other Northern States like Uttar Pradesh and the North East where more freight traffic is there.
@Maersk.146 Since the 100 percent electrification policy was made by the previous Railway Minister soon after Indian Railways had a contract with GE to manufacture WDG-4Gs, IR had no other way other than to continue with the project. Yes,there will be a need of WDG-4Gs as many ALCos and some EMD locos are under premature condemnation, and diesel locos need to be kept in standby if at all any power failure comes..
