BNSF 6862 East pulls a stack train over an old Wabash line.

storyTo clarify, this portion of BNSF (former ATSF) was built as a high speed flyover to avoid a grade crossing with Wabash Railroad. The Wabash was never as busy as the Santa Fe in this area, and the rough crossing would have required unwanted speed restrictions on otherwise 90 mph territory. The Wabash line is long gone now, so the BNSF just flies over a seldom-used gravel road. The hump is not without its liabilities, however, as within the last ten years high winds managed to topple a number of moving double stack container cars over, making a mess in a rather remote area.
