I can recommend an early morning at Old Linslade, there is plenty of action between dawn and breakfast time Tuesday thru Saturday. It is easily accessible by car, takes me about 50 minutes at that time of day from North London. Four track mainline, three passenger operators (Virgin, London Midland and Scotrail) and three freight companies too - DBS, FL and GBRf.
