The joint international train Sudexpress and Lusitânia that connects Lisbon to Madrid and Hendaya (TGV to Paris)was deviated through the "Linha do Oeste" (West line) on 24th January due to a sever train accident occurred on Monday of that same week at Alfarelos Station. The main line "Linha do Norte" was interrupted for several days until rescue teams removed the heavily damaged train wracks. Whats so Special about this picture? Well, it was the first time ever that a Class 1400 loco hauled these international trains, and the first time for talgo stock in the "linha do Oeste". Diesel loco 1413 was replaced at Coimbra-B by electric loco 5610 to complete the journey till the Portuguese - Spanish border. A image that will hardly repeat on the future!
