Here is a view of Santa Fe Junction Interlocking looking south toward Tower #3. By this time, Soo Line had purchased most of the assets of the former Milwaukee Road, but most Milwaukee power and equipment remained in original colors. This train has arrived from the northeast, through Ottumwa, Iowa, and down through north-central Missouri. It came into Kansas City via Liberty and over the Harry S Truman bridge before hitting the Kansas City Terminal for the complete loop around town and arrival at the KCS-Milwaukee Joint Agency Knoche Yard. Here at Tower #3, all the original tracks and signals remain active, but in a few years, much would be removed and re-routed to save the railroads money in reduced property taxes. Some trackage would be added back later on, as traffic levels increased and things began to be congested.
