Thanks, SDA! In 1979, Conrail was still in its infancy and had a lot of locomotives handed down from all the predecessor railroads. So this train showing up with a brand new Conrail SD40-2, nearly 2000 miles from the closest Conrail territory had all of us in a frenzy. We chased it for more than 40 miles through the mountains, getting photos as often as possible, finally letting it go at North Powder, Oregon.
