This was an unfortunate result of questionable foresight by KCT dispatchers, who routed a hotshot ATSF #991 train in behind a Milwaukee Road caboose hop which had to stop and wait for a crew change on track #2. The Milwaukee crew was friendly, though, and invited me up into the caboose for this photo opportunity. The ATSF crew even waved me up into the cab of the 5998 for a few moments before the logjam cleared up. While all this was going on, another ATSF hotshot sailed by, unencumbered by any stopped traffic ahead.
