Finally getting a chance to perform on the BNSF TransCon, BNSF SD70ACe-P4 8502 heads up a general freight on the Sibley Bridge. EMD's answer to the successful GE ES44C4, also with just four traction motors, the horsepower per unit remains the same as with six-motor versions. The units are specifically intended for high speed intermodal traffic, rather than slower coal and grain trains. Reducing traction motors per unit saves on maintenance costs, and modern anti-slip wheel technology makes for quicker acceleration with priority traffic - a requirement for trains on the TransCon.
