A pair of ALCo's with goods train crossing Wari procession.

storyA pilgrimage called Palkhi or Wari is one of the most amazing events going on for more than 1000 years in state of Maharashtra, India. Thousands of devotees walk all the way to holy town called Pandharpur. On the way, people perform collective singing, dancing, chanting (Dnyanba-Tukaram in what are called as Dindis or organized group of warkaris)in Hindu months of Ashadh (June-July) and Karthik (November-December). In coarse of time, this tradition is becoming popular day by day. Nearly 1.5 lakh devotees proceed along with the Sant Tukaram Palkhi from Dehu village, while a total of 2.25 lakh devotees march along with the Sant Jnyaneshwar Palkhi. At the above location in the photo, while the pilgrims take a break at pond near the track, a goods train with Assistant Loco-Pilot waving to them passes by.
Beautiful 🙏 🙂
The lighting could hardly be more perfect. Well done, Sir!
Thank you @Maersk.146. No 'Sir' please. Intermittent rain is seen here in these days. As the roads are closed for procession, one has to walk 5 kilometers from nearest Jejuri railway station to reach this place.
