ATSF (Maersk) 146, painted for publicity purposes, heads east.

Original negative currently lost, this low-resolution scan of a print is all I have available for now. The locomotive was delivered in primer to ATSF Topeka, KS, shops, where it was painted in Maersk colors for a special publicity tour, beginning in Chicago and concluding on Cajon Pass in California, where Maersk hired a helicopter to film the loco leading a solid train of Maersk intermodal cars and containers. As it passed through Kansas City on its maiden voyage, I managed to catch it in three locations, beginning here at Santa Fe Junction Interlocking. The loco remained in this scheme for less than a month, being repainted to ATSF Warbonnet colors soon after the publicity tour ended.
