Diesel locomotive - the record holder was built in 1989 to transport passenger trains. At that time, it was the best locomotive of the Kolomna diesel locomotive plant, which had a powerful diesel engine of 6000 horsepower. In 1993, this locomotive passed high-speed tests on the October Railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. As a result of tests on this locomotive, a speed of 271 km / h was reached, which became a world record for passenger locomotives. However, this series of diesel locomotives awaited a sad fate. The end of the 80 was not the best time for the Soviet economy, and in 1991 the collapse of the Soviet Union. As a result, all progressive locomotives of that time, including TEP80, were not needed. The locomotive did not go to the series, and later it was completely abandoned. In 2008, the locomotive was transferred to the museum in St. Petersburg
