rl Pendolinos and other tilting trains are not that fast, they can take curves about 30% faster on conventional lines and that's their main advantage. But non tilting high speed trains run much higher speeds on dedicated high speed lines which don't have that sharp bends anyway. I took Italo high speed EMU from Milan to Turin and we reached 300km/h covering the distance with one hour. Pendolinos have max speed of 250km/h and places like Switzerland are ideal for them.

mikhail ter @Maersk.146 btw you have Acela Express with 150mph max. But the density of the lines is rather small.
rl @Maersk.146 Yes in Europe you can take train to almost anywhere, trains are fast and frequent for the most part. Railways are built up around passenger services and on many lines you hardly see any freight trains. So I think that freight traffic and efficiency are much more developed in the US.
