The track where the tram runs on directs from the photographer's location "Domplatz" over the street "Marktstraße", the place and stop "Fischmarkt", the street and bridge "Schlösserstraße" to the central stop "Anger", which is the only one used by all 6 Erfordian tram lines.
The photographed tram operates the line 6 ("Rieth" - Hospital - University - "Domplatz" - "Fischmarkt" - "Anger" - Central Station - "Steigerstraße") in southern direction.
This MGT6D-wagon 614 had an accident on December 23, 2010, where two MGT6D (wagons 614 and 615) crashed laterally at the rail crossing "Anger".
The tracks at the left side lead from the stop "Domplatz Nord" in northern direction, used by the lines 3 to "Europaplatz" and 6 to "Rieth".
The right track leads from the stop "Domplatz Süd" in south-eastern direction to the airport "Erfurt-Weimar", where passengers can go to with the tram line number 4.

Here you can see one of the 12 new "Siemens Combino Classic" trams (20 meters long, 3 wagon parts), that Erfurt bought in 2011/2012.
It is connected with an 30-meters-long "Combino Advanced" (5 wagon parts). Together they can transport nearly 300 passengers (105+180). Erfurt is the only Combino-using city, where they operate not only alone, but also in a "couple" with a maximum length of 50 meters.
The picture was taken in the "Markstraße", the connection street between the places "Domplatz" and "Fischmarkt".
In the background you see the tower of "Allerheiligen", a church with a triangular ground plan, where gravesites are accommodated.
Next stop for this tram of line 3 ("Europaplatz" (Park&Ride) - Hospital - University - "Domplatz" - "Fischmarkt" - "Anger" - Central Station - "Urbicher Kreuz" (P&R)) is Fischmarkt.
This line is the longest and at the same time most frequented one.
All 6 Erfordian tram lines offer between 6 am and 6 pm 10-minute-intervals. The 3 lines that pass through "Marktstraße" (lines 3, 4 and 6) are transporting around 35,000 passengers per day; in whole Erfurt around 50,000 people are using the tram every day.

This is the "Fischmarkt" in central Erfurt.
The "broached" building on the right side is the townhall.
The two houses behind the tram are the "Haus zum Breiten Herd" (left, red) and the "Gildehaus" (right, yellow-green), both destroyed by a fire in July 2008 and after reconstruction opened in January 2010 (costs: around 3.6 million Euro).
The tram is type "Siemens Combino Advanced", of which the EVAG owns 36 30meter-long (5 wagon-parts) and 24 20meter-long (3 wagon-parts) trams.
The photographed track curve at Fischmarkt is one of the three locations in the Erfordian tramway network, where it's forbidden that two trams come towards. Every time trams meet in this curve, the "out of town"-(as city center the place "Anger" is meant)-directed tram has to wait (in this case the photographed tram) and the other one has priority.

The locomotive 41 1144 belongs since June 27, 2003 to a Thuringian working group named "IGE Werrabahn Eisenach e.V.", homepage www.ige-werrabahn-eisenach.de .
Here you can see it on a train called "Thuringian traditional train", which can be assembled from 6 wagons, built in the 1980's as wagons for Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) long-distance passenger trains in the GDR; wagon types: 2 Bom, Bmh, Bmp (built in 1989 as a prototype), BDwsb (combined luggage and passenger wagon) and Bomk (bistro wagon).
German Railways (DB) Regio is the owner of the wagons. The IGE Werrabahn maintains the train and uses it for special nostalgic railway journeys through Thuringia (homepage www.bahnnostalgie-thueringen.de).

Do you know the number of the second locomotive?
I guess it's 95-1027.
The event you took this picture was "Plandampf Werra 2010".

From January 2013 on, every wagon of the 238 suburban railway railcars from series 423 in Munich, Bavaria, gets a special varnishing. This is useful for the easier and ecolocial removal of graffiti. The whole project costs around 2 million Euro.
