A BNSF intermodal container train hustles through the town of Camden, Missouri,
once a busy river town when the Missouri River actually flowed where I was standing
to capture this image. Now, permanent levees built by the US Army Corps of Engineers
back in the late 1800's and early 1900's channel the river two miles behind me in the
interests of flood control. This ground has not seen any flooding since 1993, the
devastating 500-year flood that caused major damage along its path.
