New E8 series Shinkansen high-speed train bound for Tokyo
E8 series high-speed trains entered service in 03.2024, they are used for Yamagata Shinkansen services. JR East is planning to retire current E3 series and replace them with new E8 trains, giving maximum speed boost from 275 to 300 km/h along Tohoku Shinkansen, while retaining 130 km/h max speed on Yamagata mini-Shinkansen line. In total 15 E8 sets will be built
