This view shows some of the damage done by floodwaters this past year on the Missouri River. Where I am standing used to be the approach to a highway bridge over the river, now replaced by a flood-formed lake that serves no useful purpose and which is likely too large to be filled in anytime soon. Numerous small towns were affected by the flooding and some are still trying to recover after residents were forced to evacuate.
