These diesel units including class 142 and143 should of been all been replaced by diesel or electric multiple units either new build or transferred from another TOC at the beginning of the year. This is due to the classes not meeting the new regulations of accessibility or CET They are somewhat like Marmite you either love or hate them due to the ride quality (only two axles per coach) and and an interior based on a bus.
There has already been a large number of all the classes scrapped but various heritage lines have taken some to work their lines.
