The driver of the train has total control over the functions of all DPU locos, so no End-Of-Train device is required, except when DPU’s are mid-train. Some intermodal trains have DPU power behind double-stack wells and ahead of lighter spine cars for trailers, so an EOT device would be needed on the last car.
