RhB is a typical mountain railway with lots of ups and downs. When the railway was built more than 100 years ago, the builders followed as much as possible the existing landscape. In the past, the trains became longer and longer and the stations had to be adapted. Therefore, the platform of Saas im Prättigau is partly in the incline and partly in the plane, With a long focal length, it's possible to show the bending of the whole train.
@Derglarner In the future the trains will become longer and longer, think about the "Flügelzüge" to Davos and St. Moritz, at least two 4-car Capricorn EMUs. Will the platform of Saas be enlarged again and of all the other stations in Praettigau?
@bfsSwiss Can't tell right now. We talk about the possibility of four 4-car Capricorns. For shure, they will outline the platform in saas an other ones. But I believe, two 4-car Capricorns wil serve the local traffic while the long ones will serve as fast trains and not stop at the smaller stations. It will be interesting to watch the traffic in 2025...
