Renfe contracted in 2021, for about 86 million euros, the purchase of 12 locomotives for Renfe Mercancías from Stadler, Euro6000 model, able to operate under 25 kV AC and 3000/1500 V DC. These are classified as 256.100 for Renfe Mercancías.
