RVEL 31/6 31 602Leicester Leicester

This photo depicts one of the very small fleet of class 31/6's of which there are only two (31 601 & 31 602). They were rebuilt from class 31/1's with through electric train heat wiring hence the ETH jumpers but are unable to heat a passenger train. Although owned by RVEL (Rail Vehicle Engineering Ltd) 31 602 is on a long term hire contract to Network Rail and that is why it carries the NR yellow livery. It also has other modifications like the high intensity roof mounted lights and a forward facing camera below the centre windscreen. These additions mean it's a regular locomotive on research and test trains operated by Network Rail all over the UK.
