In fact, this was the first time since the NS heritage units were introduced 12 years ago that I’ve been able to see it leading a train - earlier appearances were always as a trailing unit or in the yard. This event was rare enough that about six or seven other enthusiasts were present to record it during its approach to Kansas City.
