eastbound container train through Altamont Pass

Looks like the IOANP (Intermodal Oakland-North Platte)! Nice catch!
@slamdunk Thanks! From your pictures I've got the idea that you are pretty familiar with the SF Bay area. I caught this train around 15:45 in Livermore. Do you know when it usually leaves Oakland, and is it a daily train? I saw one last month about the same time but can't remember what day it was.
Yes I see this train in Oakland several times a week usually on my bike rides. I’m usually shooting it with my cellphone and so usually post these on Instagram or Trainorders not Trainspo. My instagram is dwatry56. It’s usually on-duty about 9am and they take about 3 hours to assemble their train. They do several back and forth moves in Jack London Square around noon and usually get out of Oakland between noon and 2. If you join the IO group Heads Up NorCal - they do a daily convo about where this train is at any moment and when it’s expected at various points. Just be aware that the timestamps on the posts are in Central time. I’m in Italy right now - been here for a month. Back on Tuesday!
@slamdunk Thanks for the information, and telling me about the IO group. That should be a great help when I'm out looking for trains. I hope you have a good trip home.
BTW the IOANP is daily and almost always goes Altamont because it works Lathrop. The westbound counterpart - the INPOA - usually goes via CalP, except on Sundays when it goes via Lathrop as the ZG2OA. On heads-up NorCal there’s always a lot of chatter about that train’s whereabouts.

Are you on TO? I’m dwatry there.
Duncan
@slamdunk Thanks for all the information. I'm guessing that TO is Trainorders, but I'm not on that site.
Yup that's Trainorders. I'm at risk of posting on too many sites!

BTW - when you shoot at this location - where do you park? I have a friend coming from UK who wants to shoot at this location. Do you actually drive onto the old SP ROW or hike up the hillside from the highway? Thanks.
