@ter - Good observation! I'm not sure if the "lift frog" is a USA-only or global track fixture, but in order to retain a smooth ride for the mainline rail through a switch, the point where the diverging route meets the mainline rail, there is a ramp which raises the wheels high enough for the flange to actually clear the top of the mainline rail as they cross over. As US track inspection vehicles are often just pickup trucks with Hyrail gear attached, this can present a slight bump for the tires to hit while driving on the main track.
