Schon beim Bau der Zügen bogen sich die Wagenböden durch, weshalb die Züge den Beinamen "Chiquita" erhielten. Der einzigartige violett-gelbe Farbanstrich war mehr oder weniger zu vergleichen mit den Hausfarben der Bananen-Marke. Die Chiquitas wurden ab 1976 auf dem rechten Seeufer des Zürichsees eingesetzt.
