I was visiting south Wales and stayed in Abertillery, the gentleman on the footplate also ran the B & B I was staying in, so I was in luck! It turned out he was a fireman on the local and trip freight workings. I can even rcall his name after all these years - Glyn Hudson (are you still around, Glyn?).
