This class of narrow gauge loco was built for the Dinorwic Slate Quarry not far from were this loco is now preserved. These locos spent their time high up the mountain side working on a gallery moving the slate to inclines which brought the slate down to the cutting sheds to be split into roof slates for export around the world.
