Thanks, I think the tall signal box is what makes this an interesting shot. It is a place I go to quite frequently.
I especially like the brick tower with a pipe 🙂
March East signal box is one of the tallest on the network. I was in it last April, the signalman gets a wonderful view. Most of the signals are colour lights but there are still some mechanically operated semaphores in the yard.
Nick! What are the grates across the tracks on the side of the roadway? Never seen anything like that here in the States. Very nice picture BTW. There are not to many towers left here anymore...
They are to prevent trespassers taking a short cut to the station (I'm standing on the footbridge between the east and westbound platforms)
