This annual excursion Auckland to National Park return is the longest day trip for steam fans on offer - almost 19 hours starting around 5am and virtually booked out each year! This is the site of former junction station of Okahukura. From here a line runs to Stratford through 24 tunnels and wild countryside. This line is currently used for converted golf cart vehicles as a tourism venture after KiwiRail decided not to repair line after a 2009 derailment.
