The bridge structure this train is crossing was built to improve traffic flow through Santa Fe Junction Interlocking, which still remains a busy place. The bridge to the left of the Flyover is the much older KCT High Line, which had to be slightly modified at this end due to constricted space. The project has been an overwhelming success, allowing BNSF and UP east-west traffic to avoid being held up by north-south traffic, and vice-versa. Other similar improvements in the Kansas City area have allowed train speeds for through traffic to increase from 10-20 mph to 30-40 mph. More improvements are under way on the north-south segments at this time.
