The blue striped SD70ACe-P4 units are heading back west to be tested at the AAR (Association of American Railroads) Test Center near Pueblo, CO. These locos are EMD's answer to the GE ES44C4, which has only four powered axles instead of six. There is apparently a substantial cost savings involved with the design, because BNSF has already acquired nearly a thousand of the GE model. The SD70ACe-P4's had already been tested on Raton Pass, but due to some problems had to go back to EMD for modifications. Hopefully, all such issues have been fixed and lots of new orders will start rolling in.
