1431 was built by Clyde Engineering in NSW in 1957 for NZ Railways. It was sold to Steam Incorporated in 1988 and returned to mainline service in 2009. Here it is seen arriving at Waiouru with Ruapehu Express returning to Wellington from nearby ski town of Ohakune. In thge distance are volcanoes Ruapehu 2797m (left) and Ngauruhoe 2291m.
