This is a modernised class 62 locomotive. The old bogies and DC motors are the same, but the rest of the locomotive was rebuilt: new body, new GM Diesel engine, electric train heating, new cabins and possibility to work in multiple traction. The modernisation was made by General Motors at Electroputere Craiova. The maximum speed is 120 km/h. Also, locomotives of class 60 were modernised in the same way and put into class 65, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
