The DL class were built by CNR Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock in China from 2010 to 2014 with 3500Hp MTU motors. This milk tank train is arriving at the huge Fonterra milk powder plant at Whereroa near Hawera. Milk powder is a leading export commodity for New Zealand and the finished product leaves the factory in containers on returning trains.
