Started in 1972, Venad Express is one of the popular trains in Kerala used by students and office-goers. It connects Thiruvananthapuram Central with Shoranur Junction. Starts by 0500 hours from Thiruvananthapuram Central and reaches Shoranur Junction by 1300 hrs. The return journey starts by 1430 hours and reaches Thiruvananthapuram Central by 2230 hrs. Recently it got new carriages with new livery which was very different livery from the usual passenger carriage livery of IR. Besides the seats are more comfortable and re-designed lavatories. Coaches were built by Integral Coach Factory, Permabur, Chennai.
