I think the pantograph in front is not in a very good shape...

David, you have recognized it correctly. In France a side conductor rail is used. But on the way back to Martigny the pantograph should work from Le Châtelard-Frontière in Switzerland. Because of the damage we had to wait there for the next train and to change train.
