What means PSR plague?
Precision Scheduled Railroading, the brainchild of the late Hunter Harrison to maximize profits and please investors, with little regard to anyone else. Thousands of rail employees have been laid off at railroads which have implemented the program, yards closed and equipment parked as they increase train lengths, reduce safety and demand more of the employees who are left. PSR is all about short-term profits at the cost of customers, too, who are finding increased fees and poorer service tailored only to satisfy the railroads. One can only wonder how long it will take before political solutions are enacted, such as a return to greater regulation.
