@Romet.Lyytsepp - That's a good question. Seems like EMD might have painted them black for a possible sale to NS, but NS has not shown an interest in testing them as far as I know. This bunch of black units has been parked at KCS Knoche Yard for many weeks, it seems, and appear to be unused. Most railroads have parked hundreds of locos and are probably not thinking about buying anything new until business picks up. Update: As of 21May2020, the EMD demonstrators seen here have been "pickled" by MAC for storage at nearby KCS Knoche Yard, where they rest with a number of KCS units also stored.
