Although painted for the Providence and Worcester, which runs through Massachusetts and Rhode Island, the engine was being used by the Central Oregon and Pacific out of Eugene, Oregon. It is used on heavy grades the railroad faces on its line down to California. Both railroads are owned by Genesee and Wyoming Inc.
@Maersk.146 Thanks. The funny part is that I saw the PW on the logos and thought it stood for Portland and Western like on all the other engines I was seeing there. It was just last week after I read about this engine on the web that I looked more closely at my photograph and realized what I'd seen.
