Did the train originate in Kansas or is it just passing through?
@Kempy72
Certain trains are assembled in Chicago, Kansas and other US interior logistics centers, but most container traffic is passing through, from and to the opposite coasts. This train, with all the 40-foot containers on board, is almost certainly land-bridge traffic, running across the US rather than through the Panama Canal.
@Maersk.146 Thanks, interesting. Is that cheaper, quicker or easier than using the Canal?
I suppose it could be any or all of the above. No doubt they have it figured out to the last penny for each route.
