On Sunday the 7th of October, the 103.245, last unit of the series, hauled a heritage train with only 1st class coaches from the DB Museum of Koblenz via Bingen, Mainz, Groß-Gerau, Mannheim, Heidelberg, Bruchsal, Mühlacker and Ludwigsburg to Friedrichshafen and Lindau. Since 2020, In exception of 103.222 owned by RailAdventure, no locomotive of the 103-series have regular service anymore, so it's always a pleasure for european railfans to see a great classic like this running. From the total of 149 built locomotives (E03.001-004+103.101-245) only 4 units remains in service order (E03.001, 103.113, 103.222 and 103.245), while other 13 units are stored in museums and depots. From unit 103.216, the locomotives received a longer cab for comfort of the train drivers. Those units, including the rebuilt 103 173 were 70 cm longer that their predecessors.
