storyED4MKu EMUs are back on Oktyabrskaya mainline, running as train 808/807 Moscow - St. Petersburg - Moscow. Several years ago they serviced this route too, but that time they were operated by Passazhirskie Perevozki, not by RZD.
Approximately in 2010 ED4MKu trains were withdrawn from service and passed to RZD. Soon they appeared on Moscow - Yaroslavl' route, running twice a day and calling at major stations only - Aleksandrov and Rostov.
In January 2013 RZD presented new locomotive-hauled train, which was destined to replace ED4MKu trainsets on Moscow - Yaroslavl' services starting with new timetable in the end of winter. New trains consist of new coaches, built by Tverskoy works (TVZ), which are capable of 160 kph. Most cars are third class ones with seats, not berths. Trains also include restaurant car and (surprisingly for 3-hours ride!) one second class car with nine four-berth compartments.
When new trains took over services to Yaroslavl', ED4MKu trains arrived at Kryukovo depot, which is situated in Zelenograd on Oktyabrskaya mainline. After long maintenance they returned to their "mother service" in the end of spring. Now they run daily, one-way ride takes about 9 hours.
